Howdy friends. Its been some time since I have posted on this here blog but Im back and ready to give it another go. You are all probably wondering where I went and where i have been. So what have i been up to? A few things; like work, I house sat for about a month, watched a crap load of Hell Boy II ( which i highly recommend), Went to the movies - Away we go and Harry Potter were as awesome as I thought they would be and finally running. Somewhere in all that I sort of lost interest in blogging but I dont want to give up on D.B. I actually have a few post theat I will be getting too this evening so look for those. Also in two months I will be in Austin, Texas with three of the days being devoted to Austin City Limits or ACL for short. I hope blog about my time there and the band that i will be seeing. Let these posters warm your taste buds for the movie we've been waiting for since last November. With just under a month to go how could you not be excited, have you seen the trailers? HP6, word.

The Broccoli Club

Recently picked up Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix by Phoenix and have been jamming out to that and then today found this gem of a fan video. Which I found was clever and well done. Flawless, no but how can you not like this song put to the Brat Pack? My one criticism is - why is Kevin Bacon along with a scence or two from Footloose involved. Bacon was never part of the pack, sorry. Oh Molly Ringwald...

Broc Rockin' Beats

The Starting Line
will probably go down in history as my favorite band. There have been contenders and even better bands along the way but no band has ever captivated my ears quite like this band. They had matured gracefully with each album. Doing it the right unlike some of their peers, who seemed to be losing fans or maybe just me. However sadly they never really got the respect they deserved by media and labels. That is why after releasing their latest effort, Direction, they decided to take a break from TSL. With that said they released my favorite album of 2007 (big surprise, right?) - Direction. Ever since the release of that album there has been talk about the b-side "Time To Run" which somehow never managed to leak. No matter how hard i look, how long it took my efforts came up fruitless. Flash forward to May 2009 when the band put a clip of the song on Amazon.com to be released in thirty-years. You could imagine my surprise when i stumbled upon this song on Youtube. Then I realized this song is a b-side, how did this happen? "Time To Run" is better than most bands album tracks. That is why this song is your Broc Rockin' Beat of June. Yes just the one song.

like it?

Broc Rockin'...not yet

Ryan Gosling is one of my favorite actors, if not my favorite. He as acted in such movies as The Notebook, Half Nelson, Murder by Numbers and his last effort Lars and the Real Girl. With the latter being released in 2007, so where has Mr. Gosling been these last few years? Allow me to introduce to you Ryan's band Dead Man's Bones. DMB (not to be confused with Dave Matthew's Band) are a two-piece outfit consisting of Ryan on vocals/piano/guitar and Zach Fields on drums. If Tom Waits and Modest Mouse were to sit down at lunch and then one thing led to another -their child would make music like DMB. Haunting but catchy and able to sing - along, thanks impart to the children's choir that accompanies them on their two songs both recorded live. The duo appeared earlier this year at SXSW in Austin, Texas, have started their own label - Werewolf Heart Records and plan to release Never Let a Lack of Talent Get You Down on WWH recs. I do not think a lack of talent is one thing Ryan and Zach have to worry about.
